Both songs definitely have that cool badass walking music vibe. I decided to look into their genres and specifically Rob Dougan to see if anything interesting came up, and Im going to list all the things I did to look into him, and share what I found. Did a music-map and a jump off Taste Dive ( both are pretty useful, in my experience ), and even did a quick last.fm search and of course the first recognizable things that pop up are Matrix soundtrack related. Still, must be for a reason, so definitely check out the Don Davis-composed music for the Matrix. Torrent Unkle Discography Movie Due OutHe also did music for other films, but no one seems to remember any of those (dont worry, hes still getting work; hes composing the live-action Tokyo Ghoul movie due out at the end of July). The final fight in Revolutions was scored to Neodmmerung (and Juno Reactor remixed it later for the credits in Navras). The song Leave You Far Behind (andor whatever remix was on the first Matrix soundtrack) reminded me of a song from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, Pushing the Sky. Uh, other common names I saw that I recognized were Fluke, E.S. Posthumus, Royksopp, and Clint Mansell. Fluke (I thought it was Flume, like the trap artist lol) did soundtracks for Sin City, the Matrix, Need for Speed games, things like that. E.S. Posthumus is one of those epic music groups that does music for like, trailers and stuff. Dont think either of these are what youre looking for, but are worth bringing up. Royksopp Forever takes about half the song for the strings to come in, but its definitely worth it. Clint Mansell actually, maybe its not him, but someone remixed his song Requiem for a Dream into something more palletable and people love it and use that version all the time. ![]() After this, I looked up Rob Dougan on Wikipedia (the most reliable website), see one of the genres hes classified as is neoclassical dark wave. Abney Park is classified as such, but I disagree based on what I listened to (more like steampunk rock or something). Bands like Arcana ( their cover of Enigma of the Absolute was used as a soundtrack in a video game, so thats something) came up too, but overall I dont think this is what youre trying to find. ![]() Dougan was said to be, and you know what Its not neoclassical or anything, but Massive Attack could be something youre looking for, vocals and otherwise. They did the theme to House MD, Teardrop which is a good jumping in point. Im also kind of reminded of Glitch Mob, which you might like.) Thinking of this, and of your specific request for dark and foreboding my mind went to the opposite for a bit. Post-rock music. Stuff thats, not upbeat, but feels more positive. Sound that engulfs you, more than melodies that make you feel. Stuff like Explosions in the Sky Thatd be something Id want, you know The music from Friday Night Lights. Basically, Im at a loss for stuff thats like legit similar to what Rob Dougan does. This is beyond me. To be sure, I did do a quick look on iTunes (looked up him, clicked on a song, lead me to an album he did.
